Virtasalmi Library’s services will be reduced over the summer due to renovation work at the municipal office building.
The library will be completely closed from 18 May to 8 June 2026 while it relocates to temporary premises for the duration of the renovations. During this period, the library’s materials and services will not be available. You can place holds in the Lumme online library during the closure, but they can be collected from Virtasalmi Library starting on 9 June at the earliest. The renovations at the municipal office building are expected to continue until the end of summer.
From 9 June to 31 August 2026, the library will serve customers in temporary premises on the basement floor of the municipal office building with reduced opening hours. The on-display selection will be smaller than usual and will focus on new adult fiction and non-fiction, the latest magazines, and children’s and young adult literature. The rest of the collection will be available from the archive storage. New magazines can be read in the reading room during opening hours. The photocopier will not be available.
As of 28 April, an extended loan period has been introduced at Virtasalmi Library. The due date for loans will be 1 September 2026. The extended loan period applies only to items borrowed from Virtasalmi Library.

The Rietrikki mobile library will operate its route as normal, and items borrowed from the mobile library will have normal loan periods.
